Here are three tips to keep your dog healthy and happy:

Exercise and Diet

Just like us humans, to stay healthy dogs need a well balanced diet and regular exercise. Make sure you are feeding your dog a diet that suits their age, fitness levels and breed. If you put food in front of a dog they’ll keep eating and eating, no matter whether they are hungry or not. So it is best to stick to routine meals with restricted portions. Exercise is needed for a dog both physically and mentally. Keep your dog stimulated and healthy by taking them out for regular walks and plays.

Vaccinations
Although it may involve going to the vet in the first place, once your dog has had their vaccinations it will help keep them away for longer. Vaccines will stop your dog from attracting any harmful diseases, so be sure to stay up to date with them.

Home Health Checks
Check your dog over regularly. This will help you pick up any early signs of illness. Your checks should include looking at the ears, eyes, teeth and skin for any abnormalities. Make sure your dogs are wormed regularly. Keep an eye out for any changes within your dog. A change in behavior or activity levels can be a big indication of there being something wrong. And yes, this does include a change in toilet habits. You might think it’s disgusting but it could save your dogs life!

We all know how stressful it can be to keep a dog calm during a vet check. So the less we have to visit the better. However, if you do notice any problems or changes in your dog, be safe and get your vets advice.
