Learn How to Ride Successfully

April 15th, 2019

Learning to ride a horse takes a lot of work and time. Make sure you are getting the most out of your training with these 4 tips:

  1. Be organised

Hours of practice are involved in becoming the rider you are dreaming of. You need to keep up your practice time, without giving up on everything else in your life. To make sure you are getting these hours in and keeping your life balanced, it is important to organise your weeks ahead.

  1. Be Committed

The key to horse riding is persistence. Taking big breaks, turning up for practice here and there will not only slow down your progress but your horses too. Yours and your horse’s body will find it harder to work at its best and recover as quickly with big gaps in between practice. Stay committed to putting in enough hours.

  1. Explore for the right instructor

Every instructor will have a different teaching technique. So find the one that suits you best. You do not have to stick to the first instructor you find or even one you have spent a lot of time with. Find an instructor that you feel comfortable and safe with, who challenges you to be your best.

  1. Be patient

Learning to ride isn’t easy and it doesn’t happen overnight. But it does get easier and more enjoyable every time. The key is to be patient and persistent and over time you will get to exactly where you want to be.
