Camping with your Dog

April 1st, 2019

Camping trips are a great chance to get outside and enjoy what nature has to offer. It’s also the perfect opportunity to bring your dog along with you to enjoy the holiday and the great outdoors. Forget leaving your dog at home because no hotels will allow your pup. Bring them along and stay outside together.

But if you do plan on taking your Dog, there are a few extra things you’ll need to consider:

  1. Travel

If you plan on travelling in the car with your dog, be prepared with the basics. Dogs will need a car harness and plenty of water for the journey. It is also helpful to bring along toys and things they like to keep them distracted.

  1. Food

Pack enough food to last you the whole journey, as you never know when you will next find a place that sells dog food. Air tight containers are usually best to avoid any mess along the travel.

Ensure that you will have plenty of access to fresh water by checking your campsite. And don’t forget to bring something for the dog to drink from.

  1. Where will they sleep?

Consider where you are going to let the dog sleep. Allowing them in your tent will keep them safe and also keep you warm! But if you do not have enough space in the tent it is important to ensure they have some enclosed space to sleep. You do not want to wake up to find your dog has escaped or been attacked by wildlife.

  1. First Aid Kit

Bring along a first aid kit so that you are ready to provide care should anything happen.

Taking your dog on your camping trip will be great fun for all. But make sure you are prepared so that you can enjoy your time. Make sure your dog is micro-chipped and protected from worms and fleas.
