1. What is Petcover Insurance?
Petcover Insurance covers your dog or cat for vetinary expenses incurred due to sudden illness or serious injury. We do not cover routine examinations, vaccinations, desexing etc.
2. Does Petcover Insurance pay all the veterinary expenses?
In the event of a claimable incident, you will pay either the first $150 or $250 excess, depending on which option you have selected, and then Petcover Insurance pays the remaining expenses.
3. Can I choose which vet to use?
Yes, You can choose which vet to use, provided they are registered. Petcover recommends that you use your pet's usual vet.
4. Is there a limit to how much veterinary expenses Petcover Insurance will pay?
We will pay up to $7,500 total for veterinary expenses incurred due to sudden illness or serious injury in the 12 month period after your policy first commenced. This includes a sub limit of $4,000 for veterinary expenses incurred for the treatment of an illness caused by ticks. Upon renewing your policy at the end of every 12months, another $7,500 ($4,000 for Tick Cover) applies.
5. Who is the insurance company behind Petcover Insurance?
Calliden Limited is the insurer of Petcover Insurance. Calliden is an authorised Australian insurer, APRA approved, holding an Australian Financial Services Licence (No 284889) and their parent company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (stock code CIX).
6. How do I claim?
Claim forms are available from www.petcover.com.au Once you have completed this and attached all the original receipts from the vet, it needs to be forwarded to:

If your vet expenses are going to be over $500, you must call Petcover claims on 1300 787 355 and Petcover will help you through the claims process.
7. Once I have taken out a policy is my pet fully insured?
Your pet is insured immediately for accidental injury, HOWEVER, there is a 30 day waiting period for all illness and tick cover.

This means if your pet gets ill within 30 days of you taking out a policy, this is not covered. The 30 day waiting period only applies when you first buy a Petcover policy, and you do not need to wait when you renew the policy after the first year.
8. What happens if my pet is already suffering an injury. Can I still take out a Petcover policy?
Yes, you are more than welcome to take out a Petcover policy.

HOWEVER, if your pet is already suffering from a illness or injury, this is not covered and you need to refer to the Pre-Existing Condition definition in the Product Disclosure Statement.

All other injuries or illnesses not related to the Pre-Existing Condition are covered in accordance with the terms, conditions and exclusions of the policy wording.
9. Are there any age restrictions?
In order to purchase a policy from Petcover, you cat or dog must be at least 8 weeks of age and under 9 years of age.

Insure your pet before they are 9 years old, Petcover will insure them for life.
10. If I choose the monthly premium can I cancel before 1 year?
Yes, you can cancel as long as you have not made a claim. If you have made a claim during the year then you are liable to pay the balance of the whole years premium.
11. My pet's breed is known to suffer certain illnesses and conditions. Are these covered?
We now offer cover for congenital/hereditary conditions for certain breeds of dogs only. The list of breeds can be found within the Product Disclosure Statement. There is an additional premium of $5 per month payable for this.

Petcover does not include cover for any congenital or hereditary conditions known to be of concern to cats or any breed of dog not listed.

You should research your breed's history to discover which of these illnesses and conditions may not be covered.
12. I don't have an email address can I still join online?
Yes, you can still join online. However, you will need an email address if you would like to access our members page. As a member of Petcover Insurance you can view your policy information securely at anytime day or night without having to speak to one of our customer service representatives.
13. I have pet insurance with another insurer in Australia, if I want to switch to Petcover will you waive the 30 day waiting period for illness?
We will waive the 30 day waiting period if you decide to take out Petcover insurance for your pet. Simply send us a copy of your current policy certificate from your existing insurer within Australia with your Petcover policy number attached to:

14. I have a few pets do you give any discounts?
NO, we do not offer any further discount off our premium prices.
15. I have "Pet Insurance" in my home and contents policy. Does this affect my cover with you?
You are free to claim from either cover however, as most home and contents policies have an optional limited cover, you may find that there is insufficient cover for any serious accident or illness.
